Methods and strategies in the integrated management system of the emergent phytosanitary risks in apricot trees orchards in Romania.

2009
The climatic conditions of the South-East area of Romania are extremely favorable for the apricot tree cultivation. The Research-Development Station for Fruit Trees Growing (Baneasa, Bucharest), a centre with tradition in the creation of apricot tree varieties and hybrids, developed and experimented with different systems for apricot tree cultivation. Beginning with the classic growing system which had as main objective the large productions of fruit (that was achieved with high production costs), the modern systems of cultivation were developed to allow obtaining high quality, biological products with high nutritional values, and reduced production expenses. The research has been carried out by interdisciplinary research teams and at the end of the work, the integrated management system of the apricot tree was developed. One of the main rings of this system is represented by the management of the phytosanitary/risks and the protection of the environment. Today soilless culture and hydroponics are the most intensive methods of vegetable production, they are also very efficient in the prevention of the attack of pathogen agents, but are difficult to apply to fruit trees. In this article we present a few number of elements (cultivation of varieties that are resistant/tolerant to the main diseases of the apricot tree, prognosis for phytosanitary risks and forecasting treatments) regarding the integrated management of the phytosanitary risks and their efficiency in the apricot trees plantations.
