Vier Jahrzehnte Feste Fahrbahn System Sato auf Asphalttragschicht

2010
Growing interest is being focused on low-maintenance railway track with predictable behaviour - a requirement that the Sato (track panel on an asphalt base) system has been fulfilling since 1966. Asphalt needs no cure time, making for fast resumption of operations, while the base can also be used for transport logistics to and at the construction site. Further potential cost savings will likely come from using sleepers with double rail support, and bi-block or plastic sleepers. Rail panel systems on an asphalt base are low-maintenance, simple to repair and regulate, and quiet. Die low overall height of the system, including in tunnels, makes for further system cost and space savings. Asphalt bases have good load distribution, yielding a significant improvement in structural behaviour. They are dense, quiet and low-vibration, and prevent water penetration.
