Apparatus and method for applying sound sensors closer to a borehole wall

2009
An interchangeable sleeve for a downhole tool comprising a substantially cylindrical body that is configured to take the downhole tool at the circumference thereof, a blade extending radially from the body, and a measuring converter which is arranged in the blade. A drilling assembly comprising a drill collar, a replaceable blade, which is configured for coupling to the drill collar, and a transducer, which is arranged in the blade. A size of the blade, and a size of transducer are selected based on a diameter of a borehole in which the downhole tool is to be used. A method for producing an interchangeable sleeve for a downhole tool includes forming a blade to a body of the sleeve such that the blade extends radially from the body, placing a transducer in the blade and the configuring of the sleeve for engagement of the downhole tool at the Scope.
