Study of Electromagnetic Noise Radiated from LED Shadowless Lighting and Its Effect on Surgical Navigation System

2018
Light-emitting diode (LED) shadowless lighting is now widely used in surgical operation rooms. However, magnetic radiation noise from such lighting is a potential source of electromagnetic interference. We measured the magnetic field radiation noise from LED shadowless lighting and evaluated its interference with an electromagnetic surgical navigation system. The intensity of the magnetic field radiated from the LED shadowless lighting was less than that from the EM navigation system. We confirmed that the noise induced from LED shadowless lightings will rarely interfere with electromagnetic surgical navigation systems.
