a-Si self-scanned 2.2-in. EDTV projection LC light valve

— We developed a 560 × 960-pixel 2.2-in. AMLCD with a 46 × 50-μm pitch and amorphous-silicon integrated drivers. This display is intended to be used as a light valve in high-efficiency projection systems for consumer TV. It operates at a line rate of 32 kHz in progressive scanning and an equivalent video rate of 36 MHz. It can stand high illumination intensities and achieves a good aperture ratio with a high contrast.
