Bi-directional wavelength-path switched ring : Special issue on transmission systems

1999
We have studied a transport WDM (Wavelength Division Multiplexing) ring network called bi-directional wavelength-path switched ring. The system has advantages with regard to both the path-accommodation efficiency and the maximum transparent ring-circumference, by employing shared standby resources, wavelength reuse in working path assignment, and non-loop-back reroutes in case of a failure. Its advantages were confirmed by the evaluation of the required numbers of wavelengths and the maximum transparent ring-circumference.
