Africa is an attractive continent for the Western Countries and for their manufacturing and trading companies. The endless growth in global consumption can be assumed as main reason to justify such interest. While on the one hand micro, small and medium enterprises (SMEs) are vital for Africa, on the one other they are responsible of several problems affecting the countries' environment: biodiversity loss; water pollution; landscape degradation; global warming. Methods and tools based on Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) have a relevant role since they allow to identify the mass-balance, over the life cycle of materials or services, to assess the energy and environmental impact of materials and services.
