Case Study: Taranaki Farm Regenerative Agriculture. Pathways to Integrated Ecological Farming

2016
This case study of Taranaki Farm and its director, Ben Falloon, explores integrated ecological agriculture through the lens of holistic management, Regrarian design, permaculture, the Keyline scale of permanence, biomimicry, and advanced farming techniques that increase productivity and benefit farmers with strong financial returns. Regenerative agriculture is the key to making food production sustainable and halting soil loss, water pollution, loss of biodiversity, and desertification. A variety of frameworks, methodologies, and tools are explored here. Small- to medium-scale farming is undergoing a renaissance as farmers discover how to increase productivity significantly without using antibiotics or other chemicals or causing pollution and are gaining community support for their holistic enterprises. This section explores the cutting edge of sustainable water and agriculture management with a holistic view that brings together policy and action field research in a case study about one of Australia’s best examples of integrated ecological agriculture.
