Proton decay of deformed nuclei

1989
On the basis of the theory of proton radioactivity an expression is derived for the proton decay width of a deformed nucleus with inclusion of many-particle effects. A method of constructing the proton form factor in the shell and cluster regions of the decay is presented. The half-lives {ital T}{sup {ital p}}{sub 1/2} for proton decay of the deformed nuclei {sup 109}I and {sup 113}Cs are calculated for different values of the deformation parameter {beta}{sub 2}. It is shown that for these nuclei the contribution of the cluster region to the proton decay width is small. The theoretical values of {ital T}{sup {ital p}}{sub 1/2} obtained using the proton orbital 1/2{sup +}(420) and deformation coefficients {beta}{sub 2}{approx}0.05--0.10 for {sup 109}I and 3/2{sup +} (421) and {beta}{sub 2}{approx}0.10--0.15 for {sup 113}Cs are consistent with the experimental values.
