Application of molecular markers in arbuscular mycorrhizal studies.

2009
Arbuscular mycorrhiza(AM) are ubiquitous symbionts between the fungus and host plant, which could enhances plant growth through increasing nutrient acquisition, alleviating environmental stresses and increasing biomass production. The function of AM fungi in natural ecosystems is one of the hotspots in ecology research.Thereinto, the identification of AM fungi is an important field in mycorrhizal studying.According to the limitation of the traditional methods, the latest molecular markers techniques have been widely used in this field. In order to develop the research on AM fungi identification,RAPD,RFLP,SSCP,AFLP,and other molecular markers techniques were discussed.Relationship analysis, determination of the polymorphism, community structure and composition, the advantages and disadvantages between different techniques of molecular markers were discovered. On the basis of this, the perspective about using molecular biology techniques in AM fungi study was discussed.
