Application of Early Postoperative Intraperitoneal Chemotherapy Via Port-A-catch in Treating Gastric Cancer

2002
Objective To investigate the effect of early postoperative intraperitoneal chemotherapy via port-A-catch for advanced gastric cancer. Method 76 patients with advanced gastric cancer were divided into two groups. Group A: 40 patients were postoperatively treated by intraperitoneal chemotherapy with 5-Fu, MMC, carboplatin. Group B: 36 patients were post-operatively by intravenous chemotherapy with 5-Fu, MMC, carboplatin. Result Compared with Group A, the 12 months, 24 months, 36 months survival rate of Group A was 95%, 75% and 30% but 72%,41%,11% respectively in Group B(P 0.05, P 0.05, P 0.01). The rate of live metastasis and other metastasis in two groups was 7.5% ,12% ,15% and 33%, 17%, 12% respectively (P 0.05, P 0.05, P 0.05). Billiard, gastrointestinal and bone marrow toxicity in Group A patients was lower than that in Group B. Conclusion Early postoperative intraperitoneal chemotherapy via port-A-catch significantly improves survival and quality of life in patients of advanced gastric cancer.
