Caracterización de los compuestos bioactivos del sunfo (clinopodium nubigenum), con propósitos agroindustriales

2020
Ecuador is a country with a wide biodiversity of ancestral medicinal plants that exist in the different provinces of the country. One of them is the Clinopodium nubigenum plant, called sunfo, which is a Lamiaceae little known in the national industry, originally from the Andes and which has been used since ancient times for the treatment of diseases. It is for this reason that the present work was aimed at characterizing the bioactive compounds present in an endemic species of the country, applying laboratory methodologies, for the potential use of the leaves of this species, for future agro-industrial uses. All analyzes were performed in a period of 6 months in the laboratories of the National Institute of Agricultural Research (INIAP) of the station in Santa Catalina. The work consisted in the determination of the biochemical profile of sunfo leaves extracted from the plant material of the localities of Cotopaxi, Tungurahua and Pichincha from the proximal analysis and antioxidant activity. As a result, it was determined that the highest percentage was recorded in the Cotopaxi locality with respect to the content of protein, crude fiber and Nitrogen Free Extract; in the locality of Tungurahua the values of ashes and humidity were recorded in a higher percentage: in the locality of Pichincha, a higher percentage was registered with respect to the content of ethereal extract. A soil analysis was also carried out obtaining results that in the town of Cotopaxi contains high amounts of phosphorus, iron, manganese; Tungurahua contains high values of calcium, magnesium, copper, and Pichincha contains high values of nitrogen, potassium and boron. To complete the research work, the antioxidant capacity present in the Pichincha community plant was determined, resulting in a percentage of 377.73 percent. Therefore, statistical determination was used through a Completely Randomized Block Design (DBCA), with the use of three repetitions and with the INFOSTAT statistical program.
