Die for molding a honeycomb structure which is superior in its wear resistance and which can reduce the pressure resistance to realize a sophisticated moldability. According to the present invention, a die 1 for molding a honeycomb structure comprising: a substrate matrix 2 like a plate having at least two surfaces 8,9 wherein the posterior orifices 3 for introducing a green material are formed in a surface 8 and 4 slots communicating with the post holes 3 are formed in the other surface 9; an undercoat layer 5 arranged on the array substrate 2 so as to cover at least part of a portion constitant the upper orifice 3 and slot 4; an intermediate layer 6 disposed so as to cover at least a portion of the underlayer 5, and composed of tungsten carbide particles containing a main component of W3C and having an average particle diameter of 5 microns or less; and a surface layer 7 that is disposed so as to cover at least a portion of the intermediate layer 6 and consisting of diamond and / or diamond like carbon.
