Ensuring the Environmental Safety of MSW by Using Fiber Optical Sensors Based on Oxyfluoride Glasses

An effective and promising means of ensuring the safety of MSW landfills are optical sensors used to control temperature and detect electric sparks. In this work, oxyfluoride glasses of the following composition were studied: SiO2 (40) – AlF3 (5) –PbF2 (18) –CdF2 (29) –ZnF2 (5) with the addition of AgNO3 (4). Glasses were synthesized by ion exchange. The intensity of luminescence when heated from 30 - 200 ° C changes 8 times. The sensitivity of oxyfluoride glass with molecular silver clusters was determined, which is 0.051 dB / ° C. The use of optical spark sensors and optical temperature sensors together gives a complete informational picture of what is happening in the places of their installation at the MSW.
