Analysis of oil products obtained from cellulose at high temperature and pressure

1976
Research on determining the fundamental mechanism for the conversion of cellulose into liquid fuels is reported. A systematic investigation is being made of the conversion of cellulose, components of cellulose, such as cellobiose and glucose, and structurally altered cellulose to oil in the presence of a variety of additives. An attempt is being made to elucidate the reaction mechanism by identifying the reaction products. The emphasis of the present report is the identification of the reaction products which are produced when cellulose is exposed to high temperature and pressure in the presence of an additive. (JSR)
