Clinical effects of Sijunzi decoction combined with low frequency ultrasound iontophoresis on pneumonia cough

Objective To observe the clinical effects of Sijunzi decoction combined with low frequency ultrasound iontophoresis on pneumonia cough. Methods Fifty-four children with pneumonia cough who were outpatients of Department of Pediatrics in Chinese Medicine Hospital of Bijie from May 2017 to June 2018 were selected as research group. Another 54 children hospitalized in the same hospital during the same period were selected as control group. Patients in control group were hospitalized and treated with routine western medicine, while patients in research group were treated with Sijunzi decoction combined with low frequency ultrasound iontophoresis. Both of the two groups were treated continuously for 7 d. The clinical efficacy, remission time of cough, fever and pulmonary rales, and hospital stay were compared between the two groups. Results The total efficiency of research group (90.74%) was lower than that of control group (75.93%), P<0.05; the remission time of cough, fever, pulmonary rales and hospital stay of research group [(6.03±0.54), (3.12±0.31 ), (4.87±0.62 ), (8.64±0.96)d] were shorter than those of control group [(7.68±0.87 ), (4.37±0.46 ), (6.14±0.75), (10.02±1.04)d], P<0.05. Conclusions Sijunzi decoction combined with low frequency ultrasound iontophoresis can effectively improve the clinical symptoms of pneumonia in children and therapeutic effect, so it is worthy of clinical application.
