Means and method for permanent hair shaping

A permanent process and agent are disclosed, in which 1-thio- beta -glucose or its salt are used as keratin-reducing active substance. This agent allows a mild and uniform permanent to be applied in a pH range from 7.0 to 8.5 which is gentle to the skin and hair and does not cause allergic and sensitising reactions.
