On the revegetation technology seeking for a quick vegetation cover in the 2nd phase KANSAI international airport island

2004
The 2nd phase KANSAI international airport island, which now being on the construction at the offshore of Sensyu in Osaka bay, may have hard environmental conditions for the plant growth. This study aims at developing a large-scale and quick revegetation technology in the island using mainly grass species. Planting tests were conducted three times at autumn, winter and spring. Hydroseeding with a depth of 3cm was most effective at autumn and winter experiment, in which 100% of vegetative cover was obtained after 4 months of the experiment. Hydroseeding with a depth of 5, 10cm, which was only carried out at winter, also showed a similar result as that of hydroseeding with a depth of 3cm. In the hydroseeding with a depth of 3cm, variable vegetative cover conditions were observed depending on the ground type. Addressing 30cm soil at spring experiment brought out a favorable vegetative cover condition.
