Clinical research on Dexamethasone in affecting preoperative preparation and postoperative recovery time for thyroid surgery

Objective To explore and discuss the impacts of dexamethasone in perioperative preparation and postoperative recovery time for patients with hyperthyroidism.Methods 36 patients with hyperthyroidism were randomly divided into treatment group and control group,18 cases in each.The control group received routine preoperative preparation,while the treatment group was given dexamethasone preoperative intravenous infusion for 3d on the basis of the preparation in the control group.Time of preoperative preparation and time of postoperative recovery were recorded.Results Time of preoperative preparation and time of postoperative recovery in the treatment group were both shorter than those in the control group,and the differences were statistically significant(P0.05).Conclusions Perioperative dexamethasone can effectively shorten the time of preoperative preparation and time of postoperative recovery.
