Sim-ui, a Confucian scholar’s robe, is what scholars wore daily and it is one of the most important piece of clothing of the scholars. There have been writings about the Sim-ui from ancient China and a dispute in Korea on the form of Sim-ui. The dispute is especially about the Confucian scholars from the Joseon Dynasty in the interpretation of the books of Confucianism. Many have spoken their opinions in literature. The two volumes of ‘Sim-ui Go-jeung’ are in The Toyo Bunko in Japan. It was first discovered by Young-sook Kim, (President of Asian Costume Research Institute) and obtained. The first volume is about folklore and the second volume is about costume such as Sim-ui, Only the second volume was obtained. This study researches the author and the contents of ‘Sim-ui Go-jeung’. And this also compares the size and form of the existing square Bang-ryeong Sim-ui(Square collared Sim-ui).
