Mutagenicity of Picloram in Herbicide

2005
[Objective] To study the mutagenicity of Picloram in herbicide. [Methods] Medulla polychromatic erythrocyte micronucleus test was carried out with doses of 131, 261 and 522 mg/kg respectively on male mice and 230, 460 and 920 mg/kg respectively on female mice; testicle spermatocyte chromosome aberrance test was carried out with doses of 326, 653 and 1 305 mg/kg respetively; TA97, TA98, TA100 and TA102 strains were used in the Ames test (with or without S9 test) with doses of 5, 50, 500, 1 000 and 5 000 ug/皿 respectively. [Results] No significant difference was found in the comparison between different dose groups with the negative group in the medulla polychromatic erythrocyte micronucleus test and testicle spermatocyte chromosome aberrance test (P0.05); recovered strain numbers in different concentrations in the Ames test were not more than twice of the natural recovered strain numbers. [Conclusion] No mutagenicity was found in Pocloram within the range of this test.
