Layered, Tunable Graphene Oxide Heterostructures for Wearable Electrocardiogram Sensors.

2021
Nanoscale engineered materials combined with wireless technologies within Internet of Things (IoT) can deliver new level of health diagnostics. A reduced graphene oxide-nylon composite material is developed and tested, demonstrating its usefulness as a materials for sensors in a wearable, long term electrocardiogram (ECG) monitoring. The heterostructure is analyzed structurally, chemically and electrically by scanning electron microscope (SEM), atomic force microscopy (AFM), Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, and resistivity analysis. Analysis finds interesting tunability of electrical and optical properties, while live ECG data demonstrate its signal transduction capability and suitability as an ECG sensor.
