Effect of chromium and aluminum on the physical and mechanical properties of precipitation-hardening Fe-Mn Elinvar

1982
1. The combination of physical and mechanical properties and corrosion resistance is optimal for precipitation-hardening Fe-Mn Elinvar with 5–6% Cr. This alloy can be recommended for elastic elements operating under various climatic conditions. 2. To obtain high strength and elasticity in combination with satisfactory ductility we recommend that Elinvars be strengthened by mechanicothermal treatment: water quenching from 1150–1200°, cold deformation with ɛ=25%, aging at 500° for 6 h.
