Distribution and Composition of Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons in Soil of Miyun and Fangshan Area, Beijing

2004
The concentrations of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon (PAHs) compounds in soil samples collected from Miyun and Fangshan districts of Beijing were quantitatively analyzed. The distributing characteristics and sources of these compounds were discussed. The results show that there are obvious differences in PAHs content in soils between Miyun and Fangshan area. The total PAHs concentrations are in a range from 45.98 ng/g to 388.23 ng/g.It also indicates that the PAHs in the soils are closely related to the industrial activities. Depending on the distribution characteristics of PAHs, the incomplete pyrolysis of the fossil fuel may be the dominant source of PAHs pollution in the study area.
