Modelling and Measurement of the Dielectric Behavior of Mineral Oil

2018
The paper presents modelling and measurement of the dielectric behavior of a 5 mm mineral oil gap. Therefore, polarization and depolarization current measurements are performed in order to characterize the types of mineral oil used, and to get the required parameters to calculate the electric field distribution. By means of the electro-optic Kerr-effect measurements, the electric field distribution of two different types of mineral oil is measured. All used measurement setups and principles are described in this contribution. The used ion drift model is derived and finally, the calculated electric field distributions are compared to the measured field values of the electro-optic Kerr-effect measurements.
