Optical fiber unit and the optical fiber cable

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical fiber unit which is free from a situation where winding bundling materials having a width greater than a thickness in a cross-section thereof around an optical fiber bundle in an SZ pattern causes twisting of the bundling materials at reversal points of the winding direction, causing the bundling materials to be bonded together while being erected from the optical fiber bundle.SOLUTION: An optical fiber unit is provided comprising an optical fiber bundle 6 obtained by bundling a plurality of optical fibers, and a plurality of bundling materials 10. One of the plurality of bundling materials is wound around the circumference of the optical fiber bundle along a longitudinal direction of the optical fiber bundle while alternately reversing the winding direction, where the bundling material is bonded to other bundling materials at reversal points of winding direction. A width W of the bundling materials is less than 20 times a thickness T in a cross-section thereof.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4
