IMPROVED METHODS FOR THE DEMONSTRATION OF TREPONEMA PALLIDUM IN THE TISSUES

Silver stains are well known as reliable for demonstrating Treponema pallida (T.P.) in the tissues, but sometimes it is difficult to distinguish T.P. from the tissue elements in tissue sections. We now present a new method for demonstrating T.P. in the tissues using FTA-ABS complement staining and scanning electron microscopy in the same materials embedded in paraffin.
