Numerical simulation of dual laser-beam bilateral synchronous welding for T-joint of aluminum alloy

2013
In order to understand the technological characteristics of dual laser-beam bilateral synchronous welding(DLBSW) and optimize the technological matching parameters, both finite element numerical simulation and experimental study were carried out for the T-joints which were composed of 6156 aluminum alloy bottom plates and 6056 aluminum alloy stringers.Based on the modified laser heat source model, the laser welding process with different matching conditions of technological parameters was simulated and analyzed, and the practical and feasible range of technological parameters was obtained.Meanwhile, the influence of welding power and welding velocity on the welding pool shape was investigated. The results show that the welding power and welding velocity have significant influence on the welding seam formation, and the simulated results of welding pool shape agree well with the experimental results. Finally, the optimum welding technological parameters were obtained, which provides the theoretical guidance for the DLBSW of aluminum alloy panels of airbus.
