A Novel Way to Design SRR Rectenna Based on Semiconductor Substrate

2020
A novel way to design rectification antenna has been proposed in this document. Compare to the original rectification antenna, proposed structure does not require welding rectifiers such as diodes, replaced by semiconductor substrate. With the help of semiconductor substrate, we can get zero frequency energy directly. To demonstrate this concept, a 5.8 GHz Split Resonance Ring (SRR) surface antenna was designed, fabricated and tested, based on GaAs semiconductor substrate in this paper. As a result, a no-load DC voltage of 380mV was obtained using the rectification effect of the substrate, when the antenna is exposed to an environment with a power density of 2.5uW/cm2. At the same time, when a 19.9kOhm load is connected, the load power obtained is 768nW. Since the substrate size is 3*4 cm, the conversion efficiency is 2.56 %.
