Inthispaper,a portable real-time wireless embeddedbrainsignal acquisition/processing systemis developed. The proposedsystemintegrates electro- encephalogram signalamplifier technique, wireless transmission technique, andembeddedreal-time system. The development strategy ofthis system contains three parts: First, theBluetooth protocol isusedasatransmission interface and integrated withthebio-signal amplifier to transmit the measured physiological signals wirelessly. Second, theOMAP (OpenMultimedia Architecture Platform) isusedas a development platform andanembedded operating system for OMAP isalsodesigned. Finally, DSPGateway isdeveloped asa mechanism todealwiththebrain-signal analyzing tasks shared by ARM andDSP.A driver's cognitive-state estimation programhasbeendeveloped andimplemented ontheproposed dualcoreprocessor-based realtimewireless embedded system fordemonstration.
