Magnetic and Transport Properties of Nanostructured Fe/Cu Mulitlayers

1998
The magnetotransport properties and the magnetic properties of sandwiches of Cu/Fe/Cu and four period Fe/Cu multilayers have been studied in this work. The samples, though too thick to present large values of the magnetoresistance (MR) were characterised by X-Ray diffraction. Their observed values are too small to determine the kind of electron scattering responsible for the giant magnetoresistance. The Hall effect has also been measured and, as expected, the negative slope has confirmed that the main carriers are electrons. Since the intrinsic mechanism is not clear, we have studied the thickness dependence and the starting of these interesting properties. We have investigated the MR in large values of the layer thickness and their magnetic properties to look for the onset of a larger MR.
