Uptake of chlorhexidine to hydroxyapatite

1973
The uptake of chlorhexidine to hydroxyapatite was studied in vitro. Data were obtained indicating a multilayer adsorption at high concentration (>0.02 %) and a stable monolayer at lower concentrations. The clinical significance of such a monolayer in plaque prevention is discussed. Adorption of chlorhexidine did not affect the acid solubility of hydroxyapatite.
