Iodine value as a Valid Factor in Monitoring Lipids in Oil-RichAlgal Strains for the Potential Mass Production of CommercialBiofuels
2011
We present a method based on Raman spectroscopy for fast and
accurate iodine value estimation: it is calculated from
intensity ratios of specifically selected Raman bands. This
technique promises to enable screening for optimal
algae/microorganism selection for biofuel applicatons on-line
within the bioreactor. Moreover, Raman spectroscopy is combined
with Laser Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy (LIBS) in order to
obtain a complex set of data characterizing selected algae
cultured in different conditions.
