GASTRIC VOLVULUS DILATATION SYNDROME IN DOGS

Gastric volvulus dilatation syndrome is a serious condition, of an acute nature, that maylead to a high death rate in small animals. The etiology is unknown, but the literaturereports several treatment possibilities. Gastric volvulus dilatation causes a severedecrease in tissue perfusion, affecting several organs, including the respiratory andcardiovascular systems. This study aims to conduct a literature review on thepathophysiology of this syndrome and the therapeutic approach from patient stabilizationto surgery treatment.
