Brugada Syndrome in a North Indian Female—A Case Report

2006
Ever since its description, the Brugada syndrome has gained worldwide recognition and is believed to be responsible for 4–12% of all sudden cardiac deaths and about 20% of deaths in patients with a structurally normal heart. Patients who are resuscitated from an episode of ventricular arrhythmia are at a high risk of sudden cardiac death. We report the case of a 40-year-old lady with the Brugada syndrome. She suffered aborted sudden cardiac death, and underwent successful ICD implantation. To the best of our knowledge this is the first case report of an Indian female with the Brugada syndrome.
