A 4-shaped MIMO antenna for WLAN application

2015
A 2×1 compact 4-shaped multiple-input-multiple-output (MIMO) antenna is designed by using DGS and parasitic element. A defected ground plane structure (DGS) etched into the ground plane so that mutual coupling effect between two antennas is reduced. F-shaped parasitic elements add at corner to increase isolation rate. It covers two frequency bands, lower frequency band is 2440MHz–2560MHz and higher band covered frequency ranges from 5120MHz–5260MHz. The antenna has isolation of about −14.84dB at lower band and −20.9 at higher band. The measured peak gains of two antennas are 1.4dBi and 2.8dBi at 2.5GHz and 5.2 GHz. The proposed MIMO antenna system has a bandwidth which covers the 2.4G-WLAN applications.
