Optimal placement of travelling wave fault locating equipment and its improved algorithm

The propagation characteristics of travelling wave in power grid are studied.According to the travelling wave equation and grid topology after transmission line fault,an optimal placement and fault locating algorithm based on multi-DOF(Degree Of Freedom) is presented,which calculates the optimal placement by solving its maximum nonsingular subset according to the multi-DOF of travelling wave.It is immune to the influence of unreliable circuit breaker status information on fault location.The travelling wave equipment with optimized placement locates the fault by cooperation.Simulative results illustrate the proposed method is simple,reliable and economical.
