Subject-specific finite element model of child's thorax: construction and first validation

2010
Finite element models are often used to investigate injuries, injury risks, and corresponding tolerance levels in vehicle accidents and collisions. However, children models are difficult to validate because of lack of experimental data. The paper presents an automatic construction of a subject-specific finite element model of child's thorax from X-ray images and its validation against in vitro and in vivo experiments.
