A Performance Evaluation and Quality Control Method of Opening Closing Coil Used for Gas-Insulated Switchgear

GIS (Gas-Insulated Switchgear) has been widely used in power systems due to its high capacity, high reliability and environmental friendliness. The opening/closing coil used for GIS is the core component of the operating mechanism in GIS, by driving the ejector to perform a series of actions to complete the opening or closing action of the circuit breaker. However, due to the lack of relevant test standards and quality control, the quality of opening/closing coils on the market is intermingled, and faults occur frequently in the operation of power grid. This paper selects opening/closing coils used by 11 mainstream GIS suppliers and conducts a number of properties tests, including electric performance test, operating life test, alternating moisture and temperature test, and coil current characteristic test. By analyzing and comparing test results, this paper analyze the key parameters of opening/closing coil that affects temperature rise of the current flow test, discusses the impact of the operating life test and the alternating moisture and temperature test on coil current characteristic of the closing coil, and extracts the performance evaluation indicators that can characterize opening/closing coil, that provided suggestions for the material and product quality control strategy of power grid management department.
