Nerve Regeneration Through Multiple-Lumen Silicone Rubber Guides Filled with Diffrent Growth Stimulants.

1999
Silicone rubber multiple-lumen (ML)nerve cuffs were used to compare the effectiveness of two varietiesof nerve growth stimulants (collagen gel and a gel mixture of collagen, fibronectin, and laminin) at the same time for regenerating cables across the same gap.The right scatic nerve was transected in adult Sprague-Dawley rats. The proximal and distal stumps were inserted each into an end of the single lumen portion of a ML cuff in which differebt chemical fillings were loaded in 6 tubes of the ML portion of the cuff. A 15-mm gap was then created between stumps in 10 animals. After 8 weeks implantation period ,53% (32 of 60) of both material fillings. However ,The stimulation of a microenvironment offerd by the mixture fillings provided a more advanced developlment for regenerating cables compared to the collagen fillings.?
