[A neck chemodectoma--survey of literature and description of one case of malignant chemodectoma].

Neck tumors are one of the most difficult diagnostic and therapeutic problems of the contemporary otolaryngology. Therapeutic success mainly depends on early and exact diagnosis. The goal of the study is to pay attention to the necessity of careful diagnosis and introducing computer tomography (CT) as a standard of neck tumors treatment procedure in order not to miss exceptionally rarely neck chemodectoma and to plan treatment process properly. CT can be a first step of vascular diagnostics what implicates safe operation course, providing effects and complications. Chemodectoma is a tumor coming from the parasympathetic part of the nervous system. The authors present a case of neck chemodectoma with malignant character in a 37-years-old woman with 10-years history of suspicion of a benign cyst.
