Traveling has been linked to the use of maps and, if at an early stage people used general maps since tourism became more popular, a new specific type of map emerged: tourist maps. More than the cartographic / geographical representation of space, these maps, due to their iconographic and pictorial characteristics, constitute a form of construction and promotion of territorial identities. In this sense, they are objects of the propagandistic discourse conveyed by the authorities as can be seen in the analysis of the map of Entre Douro e Minho edited by Rotep. .
