New endoscopic endonasal surgery for treatment of congenital lacrimal pathway stenosis in children: a report of 22 cases.

2020
Congenital nasolacrimal duct obstruction (CNLDO) is a common pathology during the first year of life, affecting 11.3 to 20% of newborns. Its main cause is the lack of perforation of the nasolacrimal duct at the level of Hasner's valve. In about 96% of cases, the condition resolves spontaneously or upon conservative treatment (lacrimal sac massage, antibiotic eye drops)(2) . CNLDO may result in severe infectious complications.
