Advances in cytokines therapy for asthma

Asthma is a chronic inflammatory airway disease.A variety of cytokines play critical roles in its development.There are no effective preventions or cures by now.Cytokines inhibitors have been widely studied as a potential treatment for asthma.The clinical researches on interleukin (IL) -4,IL-5,tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α) inhibitors have made a breakthrough progress.Furthermore,the clinical trials of IL-13,IL-9 are underway.Thymic stromal lymphopoietin(TSLP) and IL-17 provide new ways to treat asthma.In vivo studies showed that the combined use of cytokines inhibitors make it possible for curing asthma,individualizd treatment for asthma provides a powerful guarantee for reversing asthma.
