Mycobacterial Peritonitis In Patients On Continuous Ambulatory Peritoneal Dialysis

Mycobacterial infection is a frequent infectious complication in patients on renal replacement therapy, as a result of immunosuppression due to uraemia. This study tried to examine the prevalence, course and outcome of the tuberculosis in the CAPD. Continuous ambulatory dialysis patients differ from others ow ing to predisposition to the peritonitis. There were five patients (2.5%) of Mycobacterial peritonitis in 232 end stage renal disease patients on CAPD treatment. All patients had catheter removed and switched to maintenance haemodialysis.
