Polarization scattering imaging experiment based on Mueller matrix

2021
Abstract Performing imaging with scattered light is challenging due to the complex and random modulation imposed upon the light by the scatterer. We overcame these restrictions by combining the transmission matrix methods with the Muller matrix polarization decomposition. We built a polarization imaging device for a strongly scattering medium and demonstrate our experiment. Image enhancement and denoising were used to obtain clearer images and finally we gave data comparisons. These results indicate that the image processed by the depolarization coefficient has a higher resolution and better definition than that obtained by direct transmission through the scattering medium. Our method is more suitable for targets with less different reflectivity but larger different polarization properties and in the case of large particle size scattering.
