P-76: Reflection Pattern Printing for Light Guide Using an Ink-Jet Coating Method

2008
We fabricated the dot pattern, which act as a microlens, for the light guide with an ink-jet printing method. The shape of microlens can be made by surface tension of liquid and the size can be increased by amass of droplet on the same point. We found that the optimized printing conditions for higher brightness and uniformity to fabricate the light guide system of a backlight. The uniformity of guided light was dependent upon the density and size of patterned lenses, which control light guide length. From the incident part of light guide, the density and size of lenses were increased to gather incoming light by reducing light scattering. We obtained higher degree of realization, which reached up to 60–75% with brightness of 3,945 nit and 87.44% uniformity. The light guide continua ink-jet printed patterns and optical sheets.
