An improved decreasing torque gain control method for multi-type wind turbines with large rotational inertia

In this paper, an improved decreasing torque gain(IDTG) control method was proposed to improve the performance of maximum power point tracking(MPPT) of multi-type wind turbines with large rotational inertia. A novel optimization strategy for gain coefficient improvement was used in the proposed method, which can adjust gain coefficient according to the rotational inertia of wind turbines. It is more adaptable to multi-type wind turbines in one wind farm or different wind farms within a same geographical area which has similar wind resources. Simulation results show that the proposed IDTG method is superior to DTG control in the efficiency of wind energy capture.
