Dynamic Optimization for Generator Start-up in Network Reconfiguration

2019
After blackouts, successful generator start-up is the premise of load recovery and foundation of power system restoration. The purpose of generator start-up optimization is to obtain the generator start-up sequence and the corresponding restoration paths. During generator start-up, the status of power system is constantly changing and unpredictable. Considering the uncertain situation, a dynamic optimization strategy for generator start-up in network reconfiguration is proposed in this paper. Moreover, considering the high discreteness of the optimization model, a modified Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) algorithm is proposed to solve the generator start-up problem. Based on the algorithm, the generator start-up scheme is modified through rolling optimization during the generator start-up. The New England 10-unit and 39-bus system is used to demonstrate that the proposed strategy can modify the generator start-up scheme effectively and obtain the better optimization results.
