Summary The genealogy of the commander of the royal fleet Hekaemsaf, contemporary to Amasis (26th dynasty), remains obscure. The end of the axial text of his mummy bead-net (Cairo, CG 53668) can be recognised in the golden sheet New Haven, Yale University Art Gallery 1936.85. This join gives the names of Hekaemsaf’s parents, Ankhwahibre and Tamehnet. Thanks to these specifications, we can securely attribute to our Hekaemsaf a hieratic Book of the Dead on linen bandages (Princeton Pharaonic Roll 8 = P.Princeton AM22087). On the other hand, the study of his parents names lets think that his mother originated from Sais and that his father, wearing a basilophoric name, was born either during Psametik I’s reign, or more probably during the one of Apries; thanks to this last hypothesis, Hekaemsaf could be recognised as the last of the three commanders of the royal fleet known during Amasis’ reign.
